2021 Competition Information

PRACTICE DAY EVENT Saturday 23 October at Englewood High School at 3800 S Logan St.

IMPORTANT for PRACTICE DAY

  • ATTEND even if your robot is NOT WORKING.  We will have Technical Support Clinic individuals at Practice Day who can help your team. 
  • We will follow these Health and Safety Protocols with MASKS & Screening Required for ALL those attending (teams, volunteers, spectators and family members) at this link.
  • FOOD will NOT be available for sale at the school. Cafeteria tables and areas outside will be designated for eating and drinking.

We will follow this schedule:

  • NOON – Teacher Registration (Lobby) +  Robot Compliance Check(Gym-Pit) Begins
  • NOON – Technical Support Clinic Opens – teams needing HELP with their robot – stop here in the Pit in the Gym
  • NOON – 3 PM – Optional Marketing Presentations Judging – by prior time registration
  • 1 PM – 3 PM – Open Practice –Referee+ Pit Briefings at start & signup w/ Referee w/ Open Practice Tally Sheet
  • 3 PM – 5 PM – Structured Practice Matches – 4 teams per field, 3-minute matches, staging (on-deck & in-the-hole), referees, and scoring
  • 5 PM – Event Ends

 Before Practice Day do these things:

  1. Upload your team’s single pdf Engineering Notebook file by 9 AM on 23 October at your Registry Team File heading – mark file as PRIMARY so we can access it. 
  2. Student registration by a parent or guardian via the Registry tool is required. If student registration is not completed by 23 October a student may not be listed in the program. Students/mentors will be allowed to participate in the event pit if this registration is complete.
  3. Encourage your team’s students to start working on the Registry Student Participation Survey available NOW. The Survey must be completed by all students on the team roster will be verified at the Robot Compliance Check on Game Day.  Students, with an Avatar, OR Parents, if students are registered without Avatar, to use instructions at Completing the Student Participation Survey.

Remember to bring these things on Practice Day:

  1. Robot, kits, safety glasses and toolbox for repairs and / or compliance modifications.  The only power tool allowed is a drill. Please bring a drill wooden block to protect tables.
  2. Charged batteries (7.2V robot cortex batteries & AAA joystick batteries).
  3. Complete the Driver’s List using this Drivers List Paper Form  if you plan to be at the event during the scheduled practice time 3-5 PM.

  1. NO FOOD will be available for sale at the school.  Cafeteria tables and areas outside will be designated for eating and drinking.
  2. FOLLOW HEALTH AND SAFETY PROTOCOL at this link for ALL attending the event. 
  3. TEACHERS / MENTORS REGISTRATION: Register in the Lobby to obtain pit wristbands – then students, robots, and tools go to any open pit table in the gym.
  4. PIT AREA: Your team will have access to a table in this restricted area and only FIVE members of your team and ONE teacher or mentor will be allowed in at a time. All other team members and family and friends may use the bleachers in the gym.  All pit rules are in the Pit Protocol, please review to avoid issues. We will be reaching out to spectators asking for pit monitoring help.
  5. ROBOT COMPLIANCE IN THE PIT: At the compliance tables in the pit, each robot will be inspected for compliance. You will receive a completed compliance checklist which could be helpful to the team before Game Day compliance check. Passing compliance is not required for Practice Day, but will be required to compete on Game Day.
  6. OPEN PRACTICE – 1-3 PM – any team ready to use the 4-quadrant game field signs up with the Referees to get time throughout this period.
  7. SCHEDULED PRACTICE – 3-5 PM – any interested teams will work with the referees to use the staging process with driver’s list – in-the-hole and on-deck tables between the pit and the game field.
  8. OPTIONAL BEST AWARD MARKETING PRESENTATIONS. Pleasecheck in 15-minutes before your scheduled presentation time outside room 2404.
