Mentors
Teams need mentors for at least 8 weeks from Kickoff to Game Day!
At least one mentor is needed for each team. Three or four mentors per team are even better. Mentors can be recruited by RM BEST or by a school team. Parents, particularly those with shop equipment which can be used by the teams, are good candidates. People with technical backgrounds and people who are good with their hands, skill at working with tools and enjoy working with young people make good mentors.
Mentors work with teams to coach and guide the students with their tasks to design, build, test and compete the robots. Mentors may instruct, teach and illustrate, but not perform any of the actual building or generating the work, including design, writing, construction or repair. Students must do all of the work, not the adults.
